the legacy continues...
In October, Pan Macmillan will take the huge step of re-issuing the very first Pan Book of Horror Stories, which first hit the shelves in 1959. i was approached by Pan Macmillan to see if I could finf the current copyright holders of the 22 stories - needles to say it was a very hard and arduous task! I was also asked to supply an introducion to this new revamping of an old volume - and it was a great honour for me to do this. I cannot wait to see the finished article - I've been told it will be a different size to the old book and that the back cover will have to be slightly changed. So for those who are new to the Pan Horrors, there are deliciously nasty stories to entertain you from great authors of the macabre such as Lord Dunsany, Oscar Cook, Seabury Quinn, Joan Aiken and many, many more!
The World Horror Convention saw the release of BACK FROM THE DEAD: The Legacy of the Pan Book of Horror Stories, edited by myself. The book contains 16 new stories from Pan Horror authors such as Conrad Hill, Harry E Turner, Christopher Fowler, Nicholas Royle, Tony Richards, Christina Kiplinger and others. Also, five of what I think are THE classic reprints are also included - with Basil Copper, Septimus Dale, Ken Alden, FrancIs King and the family of John Ware giving their permission for me to reprint their tales.
Shaun Hutson supplies the foreword, David Sutton supplies the introduction and the artwork comes courtesy of the multi-award winning Les Edwards. The reaction to the book has been extremely positive. There are only 150 in print, and we sold well, I only have a few boxes left! If you would like to purchase a copy, the book is twenty pounds for an unsigned copy or thrity pounds with a signed copy from seven of the contributors. Postage is four pounds.
